AREA STUDENTS HELP HOMELESS VETERANS

Grace Speaks, along with her classmates in the 5th grade leadership program at Riverplace Elementary in Austin worked together to create toiletry packages for homeless veterans.  Distributed through the American Red Cross of Central Texas Totes of Hope program, the packages will help former soldiers by providing nonperishable food, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and other daily necessities.  The students conducted a toiletry drive as part of a community service and leadership exercise designed to improve their local community.

BARTON CREEK ELEMENTARY DONATES FOR HAITI RELIEF

Barton Creek Elementary presented the American Red Cross with a check for $1,994.11 for Haiti Relief Efforts and the International Relief Fund.  The 4th grade class coordinated a Wax Museum event where kids "voted" on their favorite wax figure by donating money to the Red Cross.

We want to thank Ms. Alkire for coordinating this effort and thank all the kids at Barton Creek Elementary for turning their compassion into action!

The American Red Cross of Central Texas has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Temple-Inland Foundation. The funding will assist the American Red Cross of Central Texas when providing immediate support to victims of disasters or emergencies in our 9 county service area. That vital support can consist of shelter, clothing, shoes, food, medication and mental health counseling. The American Red Cross of Central Texas is grateful for Temple-Inland’s support and very appreciative of their wonderful partnership. Thank you Temple-Inland for helping us help the people of Central Texas!

BAE TASTE OF DIVERSITY

BAE Systems' volunteer organizations (CARE (Community Action and Recreational Events) committee, the Austin Diversity Council, and ACEs committee) hosted "Taste of Diversity" and invited us to come participate and enjoy food, great employees and a great culture. Proceeds raised from the event will go to the American Red Cross and the 3d Cavalry Association. Thank you, BAE!
